Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Papplewick Young Farmers to Yates Engineering for a session that brought engineering to life.
We split the group to give everyone a hand’s on, behind the scenes experience. One group heard our story first – the journey of Yates Engineering, how we’ve evolved over the years and the work we’re proud to deliver today. Meanwhile, the second group headed straight to the workshop, where Rob, Eric, and Kyle showed them around and gave them something even better than a tour – the chance to try welding for themselves!
After swapping over, every visitor left with a full picture of both our heritage and our day to day operations and hopefully, a new appreciation for the skill and craft behind engineering.
To round off the visit, each participant was given a model jeep they had seen created right in front of them, from plasma cutting 2mm sheet steel, to linishing and folding on our CNC press brake. A small piece of engineering to take away but a big reminder of what can be built from an idea! 💡
Congratulations to Jack, who took top spot for his welding effort on the day!
A huge thank you to Papplewick Young Farmers for bringing such enthusiasm and curiosity. It’s always a privilege to share what we do and hopefully inspire the next generation of engineers.
